TC Environ-Management Kft. organized in 2008 first time the „Waste Management Day” international conference in Budapest. Considering the success of this event, yearly organization of the conference became a tradition.

Now the conference is a platform of ideas and experiences for the companies involved in environmental protection and waste management.

This year conference is a perfect opportunity to discuss the today situation and future of national waste management in Hungary. Furthermore, we would like to give an overview of the waste management situation in countries nearby Hungary.

The treatment of municipal solid waste is an important and hard task among the members of the European Union, therefore in Hungary as well. The collection and recycling technologies are constantly developing, which means a great challenge to each countries: which is the best method for solving the treatment of waste. In the last 10-15 years a wide variety of the waste management solutions has grown up in single countries. The other significant question is the follow-up and coordination of the recyclable products, from the production till the recycling processes; different models have set up to handle the coordination organization tasks. The presentations will show these models, solutions and experiences among the European Union countries. The waste management situation in Hungary is in (sweeping) changing – the presentation about the new conception will probably answer for some important questions and doubts.

The conference will be the premise of handing over the Arany Hangya (Golden Ant) waste management prize in three categories: local municipalities operating successful selective waste collection system, successful regional waste management systems and students with waste management topic diploma works
